Unleashing the Power of Gouache: A Comprehensive Course

What Is Gouache?

Gouache, often labeled as "opaque watercolor," is distinct from watercolor, primarily due to its opacity compared to watercolor's transparency, despite both being water-soluble. This five-week course will guide you through the essentials of gouache, empowering you to incorporate it confidently into your artistic endeavors. Immerse yourself in the vivid world of gouache in this engaging four-week class designed to spark creativity and enhance painting skills. This is more than just another painting course—it's an exploration of a versatile and expressive medium.

What you will Learn:

-The intriguing history and unique characteristics of gouache

-Live demonstrations showcasing essential techniques, from rich opaque layers to watercolor-like washes

-Adjusting gouache consistency for varied effects

-Key principles of color theory and practical tips for mixing and layering

-Fundamental composition skills for captivating artwork

-Introduction to different brush types and strokes.

-Students will also explore topics like brushes, color theory, composition, paper choices, and archival practices specific to gouache.
